This month’s spotlight is on, Diane Travers. Diane is an original member of God's Country Nite Jamboree team.

dianne.jpgGCR: You claim you don’t sing or play an instrument, so what is your role in the service?

Diane: My role is to show enthusiasm for the service by hospitality, snacks and beverages. I also like to welcome everyone to the service and introduce them to people sitting around them.

GCR: I’m glad you mentioned snacks, we’ve had some really delicious treats at our services, what’s been your favorite?

Diane: I agree that we’ve had some great treats so far. We have a very special treat planned for our September 12th service. I don’t want to ruin the surprise but I’m certain that everyone who attends will really enjoy it!

GCR: How did you get started with GCR?

Diane: I was contacted by our Pastor Everett Bassett about an opportunity to reach out to the community through the popularity of country music. I attended the first planning meeting and was hooked on the idea. A lot of work goes into the preparation for the service but it’s all worth it – we have a great team and we all have a great time.

GCR: It’s obvious that you like country music, is that your favorite type music?

Diane: I love to listen to rag-time music, it has a great beat. I also enjoy the country music at the GCR service. One of the best parts is listening to Leo play the banjo. There are not many opportunities to listen to a banjo live.

GCR: What’s been your favorite song that’s been played in the God’s Country Service?

Diane: I really enjoy the GCR Version of Peaceful Easy Feeling by the Eagles. The revised lyrics are really inspirational. I think we should print copies to hand out!

GCR: I like to ask everyone to describe the GCR service, what would you tell someone about the GCR service?

Diane: It’s a different style service that provides a message through the music and the video. I like it because I get to wear my cowboy hat!

GCR: One last question, is there any chance we can try a sample of the treat for the next service?

Diane: Sorry, but it won’t be ready until September 12th, you’ll have to wait like everyone else!
