PROVERBS 3:5 & 9----“Trust in the LORD with All thine heart; and lean not unto your own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.”

This Lenten season we think of God’s greatness and all that he has done for us.
He has given the entire world the ultimate gift—his Son.  John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only forgotten son.  That whosover believeth in him should not parish but have ever lasting life.”

The verses above were the favorites of my Grandmother.  She was born in 1906 and lived to be 102 years old.  Those verses shaped and guided her life as a strong Christian woman.  Throughout her lifetime she witnessed a myriad of world changes…….depression, war, natural disasters, women’s rights, and numerous changes in government- to name just a few.  Much of what she witnessed over a period of more than 100 years required faith.  She never had all of the answers or could possibly comprehend all of the changes.  All of those events were periods of unrest and confusion.  What she was able to cling to was God’s word.  She knew that God was in control.  She knew that God would never fail.

In our modern world in 2011 we continue to be plagued with political unrest, natural disasters, and economic hardship.  This is a time to cling to what we have.  In our tumultuous world the only guarantee that has been given to us is the Promise of God’s love.  Man will fail us.  Man is not perfect.  God knows the answers; God is in control.  God will never fail.

I challenge you in this season of Lent to lean on the Lord….cast your cares upon Him.  None of us know what tomorrow holds.  Let God be your guide.  The Lord never failed my Grandmother; He has never failed me; and He will never fail you.
